Q. What are the items I should carry for the Kailash Yatra?
Trip To Temples provides a detailed list of things to carry that are required for the Kailash Yatra, 30 to 45 days before the Kailash Yatra date. This list of requirements will help you in the preparation for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The list has various categories such as clothing, medical kits, food items, toiletries, miscellaneous, etc. The essential items are highlighted in the things to carry list.
Q. What medicines do we need to carry for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
Generally, people do not feel the need for medications during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Yet, basic medicines that are commonly used are suggested for the yatris to carry with them. Firstly, it is essential to carry any medications that are consumed regularly on course, like for Blood Pressure, Diabetes, asthma, etc. Also, it is suggested to carry doctor-prescribed medications in case you are allergic to anything. Timely before the yatra date, all yatris are provided with a List of Things to carry for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra that has the following medicines suggested in the list.
- Diamox
- Pain Killer
- Paracetamol
- Multivitamin pills
- Antibiotics
- Mosquito Repellent
- Portable Oxygen Cylinders are suggested to carry along, as they help during the two-and-a-half-day parikrama at low oxygen level places. Portable oxygen cylinders can be bought from Saga Market on the Overland route and at Purang on the Helicopter route. Buying here is the cheaper and better option.
- Camphor is also commonly used by yatris during the parikrama to feel at ease at low oxygen levels. We do not suggest or oppose the idea of whether camphor/Kapoor can be used in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It is completely the yatris' preference.
The consumption of any of the above-listed medicines is suggested to be done only after a doctor’s consultation.

One large duffle bag with a cover for luggage and one small backpack to keep essentials during trekking, both of which will be provided by Trip To Temples. It is advisable not to carry a trolley or an airbag for your comfort, as it is difficult to carry. It is better if you use the bags provided by us rather than carrying your own luggage bag.
You can carry any type of luggage bag till Nepalganj (in Helicopter Kailash Yatra) and Kathmandu (in Bus Kailash Yatra), where you will be given good good-quality duffle bag and backpack by Trip To Temples (u/o Divine Mantra Pvt Ltd). Each bag will have a unique number for identification. You will have to shift your essential items into the bag provided for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Cigarettes and tobacco are not prohibited, but it is not a good idea to bring them on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra since, first of all, Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are pilgrimage sites, and second, your fellow travellers might not feel comfortable doing so. Avoiding such things at high altitudes is also advised because they may be harmful to your health, causing shortness of breath during trekking.
