Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Resumes After 5 Years, UP Govt. Announces Rs. 1 Lakh Subsidy for Pilgrims

In a landmark decision, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a substantial subsidy of Rs.1 lakh per pilgrim for state domiciles participating in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. This subsidy can be availed of only once in a lifetime and represents the most generous allowance offered by any Indian state for religious pilgrimage. The sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has officially resumed after a five-year suspension, marking a significant milestone for Shiva devotees across India. The pilgrimage, considered one of the holiest sites for Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, was flagged off by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita in a ceremonial launch. The first batch of 50 pilgrims departed from Mansarovar Bhawan in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, halting a prolonged delay in resumption since the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption has specifically been made possible due to improved India-China diplomatic relations, allowing access to the sacred route once again.

Gaya Renamed as Gayaji: Bihar’s Ancient Holy City Undergoes Major Development

Gaya Renamed as Gayaji: Bihar’s Ancient Holy City Undergoes Major Development

The historic city of Gaya in Bihar has been officially renamed as Gayaji, fulfilling decades-long demands from residents who have traditionally referred to the ancient town by this name their entire lives. Gayaji holds profound religious importance for both Hinduism and Buddhism. The city serves as a sacred destination where Hindus perform Pind Daan rituals at the Vishnupad Temple in memory of their ancestors. At the same time, the nearby Bodh Gaya marks the site where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment. According to Hindu religious texts, Gayaji is the same location where Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, performed Pind Daan rituals for his father, Dasharatha. This historical connection reinforces the city’s significance as a pilgrimage destination. The town derives its name from the demon Gayasur, who, according to Hindu mythology, requested that the place become a site of moksha (liberation). This makes Gayaji unique as it is believed to be the only place where performing Pind Daan grants moksha to departed souls.
