Infrasturcture facilities in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
Q. What kind of toilet facility do we get during the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage?
Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a pilgrimage and not an excursion, which requires a lot of strength and devotion towards Lord Shiva. Plus, the resources and general public amenities are available in a limited number around the Kailash Mansarovar region. However, we ensure to provide the best available services to our pilgrims, in which, hotel stays are provided in Lucknow/Kathmandu (2 nights), Nepalgunj (1 night), Purang Town (2-3 nights), and Darchen (1 night) under the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by helicopter, where you will get rooms with attached toilets. Common washrooms are available in tourist guesthouses in Simikot (1 night). Hotels will be provided at Kathmandu (3 nights), Nyalam/Kyirong (2-3 nights), Dongba/ Saga (2 nights), and Darchen (1 night, may lead to an upfront personal expenditure for additional stay in case one doesn't participate in Kailash Parvat parikrama), whereas dormitories are provided in Kudari/Syabrubesi (1 night), in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by overland/road route. Hotels have attached washrooms in the rooms, whereas guesthouses and dormitories have a common washroom. The washrooms are both Indian as well as Western style. But there is no washroom facility available during the stay at Lake Manasarovar (1 night), hence, we provide portable toilet tents. During the Mount Kailash Parikrama, we stay at Dhirapuk (1 night) and Zuthulpuk (1 night), where a common washroom is available at Zuthulpuk.
Q. What is the available toilet facility at Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash Parikrama?
There are no washrooms at Lake Mansarovar, so during your 1-night stay at Mansarovar, we provide portable toilet tents for our pilgrims. The Mount Kailash Parikrama takes up to 2 and a half days; the first day’s parikrama starts from Yamdwar to Dirapuk (1 night stay in Dirapuk), and the second day’s parikrama starts from Dirapuk to Zuthulphuk (1 night stay in Zuthulphuk), with a common washroom facility. After completing your last day’s parikrama, you will return to Darchen, where a toilet facility is available. However, there might be some mechanical issues and maintenance lag in Darchen.
Q. At which places do we not get toilet facilities during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
Lake Mansarovar region is the only spot during your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, where there is no permanent washroom facility. Hence, we provide our yatris with portable toilet tents for privacy.
Q. Do we have common or separate toilets for men and women during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
There are common washrooms for men and women in the dormitories and guest houses on the Kailash Yatra. Dormitories and a guest house stay during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are provided in Simikot (1 night) on the helicopter route and in Kudari/Syabrubesi (1 night) on the overland route. Since there are no toilets near Lake Mansarovar, we provide common portable toilets and toilet tents for men and women travelling with us. A common washroom will also be available at Zuthulpuk during our second-night stay during Mount Kailash Parikrama.
Q. What is the toilet facility at Chinese immigration centre?
Earlier, toilet facility were below standards at the Chinese immigration centre, but with tourism development in the region, new infrastructure is being projected by the Chinese government to provide better facilities to pilgrims. Now, the Nepal-Tibet border has a better infrastructure at the Chinese immigration centre.
Q. Do we get electricity during the Kailash Yatra?
The electricity is available throughout the Kailash yatra. Even during the parikrama, electricity will be supplied through solar panels to your dormitory.
Q. Do we get mobile charging points in rooms? Where can we charge our phones during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
Mobile charging points are available only in hotel rooms, but not in dormitories and tourist rest houses. Pack a universal adapter to use mobile charging points, or you can also carry a good quality, high power bank to charge your devices and an extra battery for the camera.
