Adi Kailash Yatra

Weather in Adi Kailash Yatra

Q. What is the best weather and climate to visit Adi Kailash and Om Parvat?

The summer season of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat- The summer season is counted as the best time to visit the Chota Kailash trek and the Om Parvat trek. There is no risk of landslides at that time. The Adi Kailash temperature and Om Parvat temperature during this period fall around 27℃ during the day and go till 21℃ at night. Although sun rays directly hit you so it's always advisable to wear a cap or scarf to save yourself from tanning.

The monsoon season of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat- From July to August, is the monsoon season in India. It is also the start of Sawan/Shravan mahina, which is considered a very holy month in Hindu beliefs. Many people wish to go to the yatra during these auspicious days. One can go to yatra during this time, but they need to be extra cautious about road conditions and weather, and must carry extra buffer days. BRO and other organisations are always there to help yatris with the opening of roads if they are blocked, unfortunately. The Adi Kailash temperature and Om Parvat temperature remain around 25℃ during the day and 18℃ during the night.

Post monsoon/autumn season of Adi kailash and Om Parvat- After monsoon, the weather becomes really pleasant to visit and to go for the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra. September to mid-October is the time when the yatra restarts after the monsoon, with all Himalayan peaks clearly visible with less rush. During this time of the year, people get to enjoy the yatra fully. During this period, the temperature in Adi Kailash and Om Parvat falls around 20℃in the day and around 4℃ at night.

The Winter Season of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat - Winter season is the time when you would madly want to visit this place, but due to heavy snowfall in Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, all the roads that lead to this place are closed by the Government and well-advised not to travel. You should complete your Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra before mid-October, as the chances of road blockages due to snow become really high after that. From November to April, Adi Kailash temperature and Om parvat temperature remain in minus (around -6℃ to -30℃) 24*7, and the cold winds of snow are just not bearable.

Sometimes due to sudden changes in weather and rainfall, roads are blocked, but this is not something to be worried about because authorities and BRO takes quick action to resolve the problems. They clear the road as soon as possible. Moreover, we take proper care of our yatris, so they do not have to worry about food and lodging even if they are stuck at a place. Comparing to earlier times, the difficulty has been reduced to a bare minimum with the development of new roads in this region after Dharchula. Adi Kailash pilgrimage is difficult and any delay might happen in the yatra, but the real beauty of yatra lies in hardship faced during Adi Kailash Yatra which becomes a cherished memory afterwards.

July to mid-August is considered the Monsoon season in the Adi Kailash & Om Parvat region. You should plan for the yatra before the monsoon or after the monsoon, as it is more convenient. But rainfall is really unpredictable in the mountain regions, and sometimes even the weather forecast is not able to provide accurate information. A delay of 2 or 3 days might happen in this situation, when yatris need to keep calm and be patient during these situations. BRO and local government authorities take quick action to clear roads and help yatris as soon as possible.
