Q. Do landslides take place in the Chardham region?
During the rainy season, landslides may affect the Char Dham regions, so the Char Dham yatra does not take place during July-August and resumes in September.
Q. What are the weather conditions during Char Dham Yatra?
The Chardham Yatra's peak season ranges from May to October. The months of May and June remain pleasant throughout, with maximum temperature ranging from:
- Kedarnath: 9℃ to 11℃
- Badrinath: 9℃ to 13℃
- Gangotri : 8℃ to 12℃
- Yamunotri: 14℃ to 18℃
On the other hand, the minimum temperatures range from:
- Kedarnath: 3℃ to -1℃
- Badrinath: 4℃ to -2℃
- Gangotri: 2℃ to -3℃
- Yamunotri: 3℃ to 7℃
During July and August, the yatra remains halted due to the monsoon. However, during September and October, the weather becomes comparatively cold with maximum temperatures ranging from
- Kedarnath: 8℃ to 12℃
- Badrinath: 9℃ to 13℃
- Gangotri: 8℃ to 14℃
- Yamunotri: 13℃ to 16℃
On the other hand, the minimum temperatures range from:
- Kedarnath: 5℃ to -1℃
- Badrtinath:-0℃ to 5℃
- Gangotri: -2℃ to 4℃
- Yamunotri: 3℃ to 8℃
Q. Does it snow in Badrinath?
Badrinath snowfall is seen more than usual. The winters are cold and chilly, and the area gets covered in snow, due to which the Char Dham Yatra does not take place in winter/extreme cold climate.
