Yes, registration for Chardham Yatra is compulsory, for which you need to send your ID proof, a duly filled application form and then deposit a registration amount, which is 30% of the total amount. This registration amount will be a part of the package cost only. The remaining amount has to be sent one month before the yatra.

Documents required during your Char Dham Yatra are: ID proof (preferably, an Aadhaar card), a medical fitness certificate, which is obtained one month before starting your yatra, and should be signed by a local MBBS doctor stating that you are physically fit to undertake the Chardham yatra.

There is no such age criteria for the Chardham Yatra. However, you need to obtain assurance from an MBBS doctor who gives you the fitness certificate stating that your fitness is eligible for the Char Dham Yatra. Only after getting the medical fitness certificate can anybody undertake the Chardham Yatra.

You can consult your doctor and obtain a medical fitness certificate; if they allow, then you are eligible for the yatra. However, there is an age limit to travel via the helicopter route; also, if a traveller outweighs the set standard, they'll bear extra charges per kilogram of the extended weight. You can start working out and exercising 3-4 months before the yatra to come into your best possible physique. Or you can also choose an alternative route of the Chardham yatra by road.
