A Confluence of Elements and Faith: The Legends of Muktinath
The Muktinath & Pashupatinath Tour is a pilgrimage of total transformation. In Kathmandu, you stand before the oldest temple in the city, Pashupatinath, a UNESCO site where the eternal flame of Lord Shiva has burned for centuries. Legend says that Shiva once took the form of a gazelle here to frolic in the forests of the Bagmati, marking this as a place of divine play and ultimate protection.
The journey then ascends to the Mustang highlands to reach Muktinath (Chumig Gyatsa). Perched at 3,800 meters, this is one of the world's highest temples and a rare site revered equally by Hindus and Buddhists. For Hindus, it is Mukti Kshetra, the place of liberation. For Buddhists, it is a place where the Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated. The temple is a geographical marvel where the five elements—earth, fire, water, air, and sky—converge. Whether you are bathing under the 108 freezing glacial spouts or witnessing the miraculous natural gas flame burning on water at Jwala Mai, you are walking in the footsteps of sages who have sought the "Lord of Liberation" here for millennia.

Overview
Take a trip to see the "Lord of Liberation" and the "Protector of Animals." This 7-day divine journey by Trip To Temples links the two most important spiritual places in Nepal: the high-altitude Muktinath Dham, which is the only Divya Desam outside of India, and the old Pashupatinath Temple. The best time for this soul-cleansing yatra is from March to May and from September to November. The Mustang skies are a brilliant blue, and the Himalayan peaks are at their most beautiful. In these months, temperatures in Kathmandu and Pokhara range from 12°C to 26°C. In the high-altitude Muktinath region, temperatures stay cool between -2°C and 12°C.
This pilgrimage is for people of all ages who want to go. It includes beautiful domestic flights and comfortable land transfers to make it easier on the body. There is a short uphill walk of about 30 to 40 minutes (about 400 steps) from the jeep stand to Muktinath. However, ponies and palanquins (dolis) are available for older people. We make sure that your journey to "Mukti" is as smooth as it is spiritually deep by coordinating TTT and booking stays in carefully chosen hotels.
