Holy Shakti Sanctuary & Its Spiritual Significance
The story of the Shakti Peethas is a heavy one—it’s about the spots where parts of Goddess Sati fell to earth as Shiva carried her across the skies. In Andhra, we are lucky to have two of these energy centers right next to each other.
First, there’s Maa Vishweshwari in Rajahmundry. Tradition says her left cheek fell here, right by the banks of the massive Godavari river. There’s a stillness here that’s hard to find elsewhere. Then we head to Pithapuram for the Shri Puruhutika Shakti Peetha, where her left hand is believed to have landed. Pithapuram is a special place; it’s known as "Pada Gaya," meaning it’s as holy for ancestral blessings as it is for the Goddess. Walking through these temple corridors, with the smell of fresh jasmine and the sound of bells, you really feel that protective "motherly" energy that only a Shakti Peeth can offer.

Overview
At Trip to Temples, we’ve seen that you don't always need a long yatra to find peace. Sometimes, just 48 hours in the right place can do it. Our 2-day Shakti Sanctuary Tour is a quick but powerful loop around the Godavari region, visiting two of the most significant Shakti Peethas in the South.
This isn't a rushed sightseeing trip; it’s a calm journey through the palm groves and temple towns of East Godavari. Starting from Rajahmundry, we take you to the doorsteps of Maa Vishweshwari and Shri Puruhutika. Best time to go? October to March is perfect, especially if you can catch the Karthika Masam vibe. We handle the driving and the stays, so you can just focus on the darshan.
