Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to Begin Soon, Confirms MEA

Following a five-year pause, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025 is about to restart soon, confirmed Randhir Jaisawal, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, the highest pilgrimage for Hindus, was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent high-level dialogue between India and China signals that preparations to reopen the Yatra are developing.  India and China agreed to resume direct air services, charting out an updated framework for the same. As per the reports, the two civil authorities have met to discuss the resumption of direct air services. Both countries are involved in the technical aspects of the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

“We are having talks with China regarding visas, and it is happening on multiple levels. We will soon issue the public notice, and the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will begin shortly,” said Randhir Jaiswal. The key issues that are being discussed are fostering enhanced connection, establishing connectivity, and marking a way to reopen the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. 

The disengagement of troops at the Despang and Demchok areas, and the signing of an agreement along the actual line of control (LAC), including the resolution of the military conflict of the Galwan valley clash 2020, have been significant developments that imply restoring of peace and harmony between India and China.

S. Jaishankar, in his meeting with Chinese counterpart Wang-Yi, emphasized that the estranged relations between both nations since 2020-2024 have led to the suspension of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra for Indian tourists.
