The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the construction of Bharat Path, a major infrastructure project worth ₹900 crore, which will create a 20 km spiritual corridor in Ayodhya. The ambitious initiative aims to connect important sites associated with Lord Rama’s younger brother Bharat, further establishing the Ayodhya pilgrimage corridor.

The Bharat Path will stretch 20 kilometers, connecting Bharat Kund (also known as Nandigram) and Ranopali. Bharat Kund, located 18 km south of Ayodhya, holds immense religious significance as the place where Bharat established Lord Rama’s Charan Paduka and observed a fast for 14 years during Lord Rama’s exile. It is also believed to be the place where Lord Rama reunited with his brother, Bharat, upon returning to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana.

District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde stated while connecting with the media that “We have sent a project worth about ₹900 crore. Although this project is just at the starting stage, we are confident it will be sanctioned, and work will commence soon. The project primarily involves widening the existing road,”.

The Bharat Path project will involve widening and modernizing the existing road infrastructure while maintaining heritage aesthetics. A significant portion of the Prayagraj Highway will be enhanced to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims and tourists visiting Ayodhya. Following the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been an unprecedented surge in devotees, with lakhs of visitors arriving daily from across India and abroad. To manage this inflow and ensure smooth traffic management, the government has undertaken multiple infrastructure projects, including Ram Path, Bhakti Path, Janmabhoomi Path, and now Bharat Path.

Officials believe the Bharat Path initiative will significantly boost religious tourism in Ayodhya, bringing holistic development, improved facilities, and employment opportunities to the region. The project is expected to transform Ayodhya into a comprehensive cultural and spiritual hub with effective infrastructure, while giving the region a modern identity that seamlessly blends contemporary infrastructure with heritage aesthetics.

Construction work on the Bharat Path will begin once the budget receives official sanction from the authorities. The project represents the state government’s continued commitment to developing Ayodhya’s infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims and establish it as a world-class spiritual destination. This development follows the successful implementation of other major road projects in Ayodhya, demonstrating the government's systematic approach to urban planning and infrastructure development for religious tourism.
