Air Transport for Kailash Mansarovar

Travelling by flight is one of the most common, and preferred ways people follow in the modern world, to reach distant places. But that mode of travel is not possible for the Journey to Kailash Mansarovar, as there are no major airports located in the region around this Holy site. One of the nearest airports is Ngari Gunsa Airport, which is located in China. Even though a number of Chinese and Tibet airlines are connected to this airport, going there means you have to first reach China from your home country, to continue your journey towards Kailash Mansarovar.

Similarly, you can reach Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, which is located in Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh state in India. This airport is very well connected to most of the Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai etc. Even people coming to do Kailash Yatra from foreign countries like Dubai, Riyadh etc. can easily reach this airport, as a part of their journey. 

Also, one can reach Tribhuvan International Airport located in Kathmandu, Nepal, which is very well connected to major cities across the globe in terms of flight travel.

Even after reaching any of the airports mentioned above, you have to travel at least two hundred kilometres or more, to reach Kailash Mansarovar. So, to make arrangements for the remaining journey after the air travel, you are advised to book a trip from a renowned tour operator. 

Road Transport for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

For those who cannot afford air travel to Kailash Mansarovar, or do not want to use it, road transport is also available to fulfil their wish to make a visit to this Holy place. Buses for this journey are available from a number of regions of India, China and Nepal. If you are from India, you can easily get to know about tours to Kailash Mansarovar that are regularly organized by the Indian Government. Since the number of tourists who wish to visit this sacred, unique place always turns out to be more than expected every year, the number of seats in the buses is limited. So, you are advised to book your seats earlier in time.

In terms of road routes to be followed to reach Kailash Mansarovar, the site can be reached using four routes, including Indian border in Uttarakhand state, Shigatse in Tibet, Kashgar in China, and Hilsa in Nepal. 

Train Transport for Mansarovar Kailash Yatra

There is no railway station in Kailash Mansarovar. In fact, most of the railway stations near this holy place lies in India. These are Lucknow Railway Station, Kathgodam, Ramnagar, Kotdwara, Rishikesh and Haridwar. After reaching any of these railway stations as per the plan of the Yatra, one will need to hire a taxi to finally reach the destination. 

Important Things to Consider While Planning Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Since the Kailash Mansarovar site is located in Tibet, any foreign national, whether he is from India, Nepal, China or others, need to get special permits to enter the region. More details of these permits can be best obtained by the tour operator you choose. 

If the travel plan of a tour includes a visit to Kailash Mansarovar after passing through a number of countries, he should take permits or make arrangements for the trip accordingly.

Where You Actually Belong Matters

As a matter of fact, you should also know that the best route you can follow to reach Kailash Mansarovar depends on the country you belong to. If you are a native of India, Nepal, China or Tibet, it would be easier for you to plan your journey, than in the case where you belong to any other foreign country.

How to go Kailash Mansarovar from India :

There are different ways to go on Yatra to Lake Mansarovar & Mount of Kailash, 1st option is directly from India which is organised by Government of India with help of Ministry of External Affairs. There are further 2 routes by Indian Gov route to Kailash Yatra, one is via Lipulekh Pass in Uttrakhand & another is via Nathu-La Pass in Sikkim.

There is another route to Mansarovar Kailash is via Nepal which is operative by private companies. There are further 2 options in Nepal Route to Kailash Mansarovar, one is by Helicopter Trip to Mt Kailash & another is Kailash Yatra by Road.
