Mansarovar Lake: Know About Its Cultural & Spiritual Wonders
Mansarovar Lake: Know About Its Cultural & Spiritual Wonders
At an altitude of 4,590 meters in Tibet, Lake Mansarovar is believed to have been created by Lord Brahma. As a supreme site for Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon religions, its clear-blue waters symbolise purity and a spiritual immersion.
As per the Hindu beliefs, a dip in the Mansarovar Jheel cleanses the sins of a lifetime. While Buddhists revere it as a prominent place of purification, Queen Maya visited before giving birth to Lord Buddha. A visit to Lake Mansarovar is usually undertaken with Mount Kailash. Pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra perform parikrama, or circumambulation, traditionally offering devotion. In return, they receive an inspiration to reflect, heal, and connect with the divine in the Himalayas.
